Inspiration :: Fuco Ueda

Buscando inspiração para um layout que estou criando para um cliente, me deparei com as ilustrações de Fuco Ueda. Adorei a sutileza com a qual ela nos convida a entrar neste quase surreal universo de cores esmaecidas e feminilidade. Vale conferir.

Seeking some inspiration for a layout I am working on for a client, I came across with Fuco Ueda's illustrations. I was delighted by the subtle way with which she invites us to enter in this almost surreal world of faded colours and feminity. It is worth checking.

Mok é um badalado sake bar no coração do Rio. Sou designer da casa desde a sua inauguração e criei desde a logo, cardápios até qualquer peça que envolva design gráfico, incluindo malas diretas e layouts para eventos, datas especiais ou eventuais promoções. O último que eu fiz foi o layout do cardápio que eles criaram para o dia dos namorados. Para celebrar a data eles criaram um menu especial e bem saboroso para aguçar os paladares dos enamorados que lá forem. Para manter o romantismo em alta, criei uma estampa sobre a qual escrevi o conteúdo do menu. Se você for do Rio ou estiver aqui a passeio, posso assegurar que vale a visita.

Mok is a very trendy sake bar in the heart of Rio de Janeiro.  I'm their designer since its opening and created from the logo to menu's layouts and every other piece that involves graphic design, including layouts for mailings and events, special dates or promotions. The last one I made was the layout for a menu they created for Valentine's Day. Here in Brazil we celebrate Valentine's day at June 12th. To celebrate the occasion they created a special and very tasty menu to tickle the palates of  the lovers who are there. So, to maintain the romantism mood in a high level, I created a romantic pattern over which I wrote the menu content. If you are in Rio,  I can assure you it is worth a visit.

Eu comecei uma nova tela há algumas semanas atrás. Ok ok... eu sei que flores são um lugar seguro para eu estar, mas acredito que, após ficar tanto tempo sem pintar , mereço recomeçar por onde me sinto mais confortável. Honestamente, eu nem sei se gosto ou não. E sei menos ainda aonde isto irá me levar, mas espero, postar a respeito aqui, me dará um gás extra para continuar no processo. Breve falarei mais a respeito.

I began a new canvas some weeks ago. Ok ok... I know flowers are, for instance, a safe place for me to stay, though I believe after so many time not painting I deserve giving myself this right to be where I feel it is more comfortable. To be honest I am not quite sure whether I like it or not. It is just the begining. I am even less sure about to where it will lead me. Though I hope, posting it here will give me an extra strenght to keep it on going. I will talk more about it soon.

Maureen Bisilliat

Falando sobre olhar estrangeiro, gostaria de postar aqui sobre Maureen Bisilliat. Embora ela tenha nascido na Inglaterra, ela adotou o Brasil como pátria no fim dos anos 50 e este a adotou também como cidadã. Trabalhando como fotógrafa para uma revista local, ela viajou o país de norte a sul visitando os mais remotos lugares. Assim sendo ela fez um maravilhoso registro do país. Ela foi muito além da sua superfície. Ela capturou sua complexidade no preciso ponto em que se esconde parte de sua  imensa beleza. São vários os livros publicados por ela e é grandioso o legado que ela nos deu. As fotos dela tem uma atmosfera intensa e uma beleza incrível. Elas falam por si.

In talking about foreigner's eye, there is someone I'd like to bring up here. Her name is Maureen Bisilliat. Although she has been born in England she lives in Brazil since the late 50's. She has adopted the country as her own country and for that the country has adopted her as well. Working here as a photograher for a local magazine, she travelled the country from North to South going even to those remote places producing a stunning profile of the country. She went beyond  its surface. She captured its complexity at that precise point in which is hidden a huge part of its immense beauty. There are several books she has published. She has given us a great legacy. Her pictures have an intense atmosphere and an incredible beauty. They can speak for themselves.
